Our booking engine is protected with a 128bit industry standard security system for credit card transcations. It is highly secure, and consistent with the security
used by other retailers in this industry.
Which company am I booking with?
We work with the most reputable companies and our state-of-the-art booking system compares the rates of each vehicle group and presents you with the cheapest rate possible. A compact vehicle might be cheaper with Avis but a full size vehicle may be cheaper with Hertz. Therefore, the details of the company used for your rental will be sent to you by an email voucher, within 24 hours after making your booking.
How reliable is the availabilty of your vehicles?
We do have freesale aggrements with our suppliers, therefore, in some cases your booking is confirmed as soon as you book online. In other cases we need to receive the confirmation direct from the supplier, which usually takes 24 hours. However, to make sure that the vehicle will be available for your dates, we advise our clients to book in advance.
Are additional drivers free of charge?
In some cases additional drivers are free of charge. Please obtain a quotation online and click on the rental conditions button (Blue 'i' button) next to the
vehicle group name you are interested in for further details.
What do I do with the voucher I received?
Please print this voucher and present to our rental desk at the time of the pick up. Please note that by losing the voucher, you might have to pay for the deposit amount again
at the rental desk. Please send us an email if you delete or lose your voucher and we will send you a new one immediately.
I am picking up from an Airport location but I don't have my flight information. How can I book?
Please enter the following into the flight information section;

Why are your rates cheaper than those quoted by the actual suppliers?
We are wholesalers of car rental which we have purchased from companies such as Avis, Europcar, Hertz & others. Because we make bookings in bulk, we buy car rental at wholesale prices, not retail prices. We're able to pass most of those savings on to you.
Cancellations
Partpaid Rentals (when the booking deposit has been paid and the balance is due on arrival at the rental desk):
If the booking is cancelled within 7 days of the car rental booking date and at least 48 hours before pick up time, all funds will be reimbursed.
If the booking is cancelled outside 7 days of the car rental booking date and at least 48 hours before the pickup time, all funds except a cancellation fee of EUR 25.00 and the card processing fee (where applicable), will be reimbursed.
If the booking is cancelled less than 48 hours before the pickup time, no funds will be reimbursed.
Prepaid Rentals (when the entire rental amount has been prepaid):
If the booking is cancelled within 7 days of the car rental booking date and at least 48 hours before pick up time, all funds will be reimbursed.
If the booking is cancelled outside 7 days of the car rental booking date and at least 48 hours before the pickup time, all funds except a cancellation fee of EUR 25.00 and the card processing fee (where applicable), will be reimbursed.
If the booking is cancelled less than 48 hours before the pickup time, we will retain 3 days rental and the card processing fee (where applicable).
Postpaid Rentals (when the entire rental amount is due on arrival at the rental desk):
There is no cancellation fee.
IMPORTANT - It is the responsibility of the consumer to personally cancel any other ancillary product that they may have purchased in conjunction (Side by side) with their vehicle reservation, i.e. LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER EXCESS REIMBURSEMENT INSURANCE through third parties like insurance4carhire . In the event that you cancel or amend a credit/debit card booking CarTrawler will not be liable for any monetary losses suffered by you as a result of a change in monetary exchange rates between the time of your original booking and its subsequent cancellation or amendment (as applicable).
In case you need to cancel a booking, you can call Car Trawler reservations centre or cancel online.
Are inter-country rentals available?
Unfortunately, we are still negotiating with our suppliers about inter-country rentals and they are not available at this stage.
How soon before my rental can I make a booking?
We need at least 24 business hours to process bookings. Unfortunately, our booking system won't accept bookings less then 24 hours to pick up.
I booked online but nothing happened. What do I do now?
Please check your emails. Our system automatically generates a booking number as soon as a booking is received. The system should send you an email confirming the details of your rental, along with the booking number. Note that incomplete bookings (incomplete driver name, flight information, etc.) will result in your booking being denied and all your details deleted. Please make sure that you filled in all fields in the booking form correctly. Please book again if you filled in the booking form incorrectly and did not receive a booking number instantly.
Things to consider before you book...
Reserve in advance! Quoted rates are usually only snapshots for reservations made on a given day and these rates may change, according to availability, level of bookings and other factors. Be responsible and cancel your reservation if you have a change of plan.
Please make sure that you have a working virus software for online shopping. Please note that our web site is pop up, spy, ad or virus program free.
Unused days
No refunds are issued on unused rental days. Do not plan to book for the longest possible period and return early. If you find you need to keep your rental vehicle longer than planned, extensions can be done quickly and easily over the telephone.
Child safety & booster Seats
are usually available. Most car companies offer child safety and booster seats. Since there may be limited availability on these you should reserve these well in advance with our reservations department.
You can't reserve a specific car model
When you reserve, you are holding down a Car within a CAR GROUP, not necessarily a specific make or model.
Beware of the 24 hour clock!
Beware of the 24 Hour Clock ! When obtaining your car rental quote be aware of the "24 hour clock rate". This means if you rent your car on Wednesday and return it on Thursday, you are charged for one day only if you return it within 24 hrs.
Things to consider when you collect your vehicle...
Do I Need to buy any coverages, insurance or damage waivers at the counter?
You may be offered additional insurances (e.g. Personal Accident Insurance) at the time of arrival, however these are entirely optional.
Unlimited mileage?
All of the companies we deal with offer unlimited mileage. This may vary in Australia, according to collection location.
Fuel charges
Fuel policies vary from rental company to company. Check this with staff upon vehicle pick up.
Minimum age policies
These will differ from country to country. Surcharges/restrictions may apply for drivers aged 20-25 and 70-75 years. The main driver will need a valid drivers licence and major credit card in the same name.
Do I need a major credit card?
Yes, all of our rental car agencies accept only major credit cards (Visa & Mastercard) and do NOT accept debit cards or cash.
Check out the condition of your car
It's a good idea to inspect the vehicle prior to leaving the rental depot. Any damage or unusual dents/scratches should be noted on the contract before you drive away. Go back to the rental office if need be to have this acknowledged in writing. Some companies may enforce a hard line policy regarding this.
